The Universal Audio Volt 2 MAX Audio Interface is built for musicians, producers and content creators, equipped with unique onboard sound shaping controls to suit any source. Pair these with six Max compression presets for vocals, guitars, and bass, and you have 18 combinations for shaping sources as you track. Recording is handled at up to 32-bit/192kHz, helping preserve the detail of each performance. Shape your sound before recording
Volt 2 MAX gives you three Tone Shaping Preamp modes across its two 60dB-gain preamps. Warmth, Focus, and Shine provide harmonic characters inspired by tube, solid-state, and British Class-A microphone preamps, helping you establish the right starting point before audio reaches your software.
Max dynamics processing adds another layer, with six real-time compressor presets tuned for sources including vocals, guitar, and bass. Combining the Tone and Max settings gives you more than 18 character combinations. This makes it easy to explore different recording sounds directly from the interface without building a complicated processing chain first.
Capture performances with detailed conversion
Recording at up to 32-bit/192kHz, Volt 2 MAX is designed to retain the detail in your performances. Two mic/line inputs handle microphones and line-level equipment, while front-panel Hi-Z connections let you plug instruments straight in. Each channel also gets independent 48V phantom power for compatible condenser microphones.
Auto-Gain helps you establish an appropriate input level in seconds, and Clip Protection responds to unexpected signal peaks. That means less time watching meters when you would rather concentrate on the take. Clear speaker monitoring and two studio-quality headphone outputs then help you hear your recording throughout tracking and mixing.
Expand your studio as it grows
A compact interface does not have to limit your setup. Alongside its analogue inputs, Volt 2 MAX provides an optical connection supporting ADAT or S/PDIF, with ADAT allowing up to eight additional digital input channels.
MIDI In and Out make it straightforward to connect controllers, synthesizers, and other MIDI equipment, while the onboard USB hub can accommodate peripherals and power external MIDI controllers. You also get integration with UAD Console and LUNA, including session recall and low-latency cue mixes. USB bus power keeps the desktop setup tidy and gives you a practical option for compatible mobile recording systems.
Handle streaming and sessions more easily
Volt 2 MAX has useful tools beyond conventional music recording. Built-in loopback lets you combine live inputs with computer audio, making it suited to podcasts, livestreams, and other content where multiple audio sources need to meet inside one production. The integrated talkback microphone gives you a simple way to communicate with performers during sessions. Meanwhile, the full-colour Smart Display provides clear visual information for inputs, settings, levels, and gain reduction.
