The Universal Audio Volt 1 Gen 2 Audio Interface is a compact recording solution for singer-songwriters, musicians, podcasters and content creators. Its 32-bit / 192 kHz conversion captures performances with plenty of detail, while the Tone Shaping Preamp gives you three useful character modes: Warmth, Focus, and Shine.
These let you introduce Tube, Solid State, or British Class-A-inspired colour as you record, helping you shape your sound at the input stage. A mic/line input and front-panel Hi-Z instrument input also let you capture vocals and instruments simultaneously, with 48V phantom power available for condenser microphones.
For mobile sessions, USB bus power keeps your setup simple, and compatibility with Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone gives you plenty of recording options. Built-in loopback also lets you blend live sources with computer audio for podcasts, livestreams, and other content.

Getting the right character at the recording stage can make your session easier later. The Volt 1 Gen 2 features a Tone Shaping Preamp with 60 dB of gain and three selectable modes, giving you straightforward ways to adjust the character of incoming signals. Warmth provides Tube-inspired colour, Focus offers a Solid State character, and Shine draws on British Class-A preamp tones.
With these options available directly through the interface, you can quickly find a suitable starting point for vocals and instruments without relying solely on processing afterwards. Hands-on controls also make setting your recording levels quick and approachable.

Volt 1 Gen 2 can run from USB bus power, removing the need for a separate external power supply in compatible setups and making mobile sessions simpler. It’s USB class-compliant with Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone, while Windows systems use the ASIO driver available through UA Connect. Its rugged construction is also designed for continued use, giving you an interface that can move between home sessions and mobile recording setups.
Build complete sessions with included software
Volt 1 Gen 2 comes with software for recording, mixing, sound shaping, and music production. The UAD Volt Studio Bundle includes LUNA Digital Audio Workstation alongside more than 15 UAD plug-ins and instruments, covering EQ, compression, reverb, tape-style processing, synthesis, and guitar amplification.
The Volt 1 comes complete with the UA 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection, Teletronix LA-2A Tube Compressor, UA 1176 Classic FET Compressor, PolyMAX Synth, and Pure Plate Reverb. You also receive additional software including Melodyne Essential, UJAM Virtual Drummer DEEP, Virtual Bassist DANDY, Splice INSTRUMENT, Prisma Producer Lab by UVI, and three months of FL Studio Producer Edition. Built-in loopback adds another practical option, letting you combine computer audio and live inputs for streaming or podcast production.
